As rumors spread out there, the 2010 GMC Terrain is one of the best cross over SUV that deserves more attention. General Motors Corp. added the Terrain to its small size – mid SUV lineup for the 2010 model year. Built upon the Opel-engineered Theta architecture that also lies beneath the Cadillac SRX and Chevrolet Equinox, GMC positions Terrain below the full-size Acadia. GMC’s intention is somewhat clear. The Terrain and its Equinox sibling look set to shake up the small-to-midsize crossover SUV segment that Honda and Toyota stars have long dominated.
The 2010 GMC Terrain is the most modern SUV for this time technology and it also represents GMC’s future. Offered at $24,250 – $31,300 MSRP, the 2010 Terrain is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in 8 trims, ranging from the SLE1 FWD to the SLT2 AWD. The 2010 Terrain is all-new for 2010. The exterior design is pretty eye catching. Compared to RAV4 and CR-V, 2010 GMC Terrain is worth as capable crossover SUV.
The engine stocks are varied, carry GMC’s latest direct injected four or six cylinder engines. The 17-inch alloy wheels SLE1 FWD is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, that producing 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. In the mean time, The SLT2 AWD is prepared with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, 182-horsepower engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and front-wheel-drive are standard on both trims. Optional on all but the SLE-1 is a 3.0-liter V6 good for 264 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is optional across the board.
Gas mileage is quite impressive economically thanks to the new generation of engine from GMC. A four-cylinder Terrain with front-wheel drive achieves an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined. However, all-wheel drive lowers these estimates to 20/29/23 mpg. A Terrain V6 with front-wheel drive gets 17 mpg city/25 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined, with all-wheel-drive versions dropping only incrementally to 17/24/20. The maximum tow rating when properly equipped is 3,500 pounds with the V6.
Despite its big body, high-riding image, and tough-looking squared-off fenders, The GMC Terrain’s indoor is surprisingly stylish and slick. The 2010 GMC Terrain is not going to be typical five-passenger utilitarian vehicle. Family SUV lovers can expect more than other standards offered by its competitor.
Terrain’s indoor is a new generation of cabin tech for GM, equipped with hard-drive-based navigation system showing traffic and weather. For the accommodation, the Terrain’s backseat is roomy for this class and allow easier access to child seats or to expand cargo capacity.
The Terrain has also been equipped with antilock disc brakes, stability control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, rearview camera, and a six-speaker M/FM/XM/CD stereo with USB connectivity as standards. The top SLT2 line features the V6 engine with leather seating, power liftgate, and moonroof. Optional features include an integrated navigation system and rear-seat DVD system.
Since2010 GMC Terrain brought its burden as General Motor badge for years, it looks like they had worked very hard to make their loyal as well as potential new customers not to be disappointed.
