Offered at $24,250 – $34,000MSRP, The 2010 MINI Cooper Convertible is a compact 2-door, 4-passenger convertible, or convertible sports car, available in 3 trims : Base, S, and John Cooper Works. A major improvement shouldn’t be expected though, since The 2010 Cooper Convertible is a carryover from 2009.

The base model has modest power, set with a standard 1.6-liter engine that produces 118 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque, accomplish 28-mpg in the city and 36-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The S trim utilizes a turbocharged version of the 1.6L which generates 172 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque,

The performance John Cooper Works edition is prepared with a standard 1.6-liter, I4, 208-horsepower, and up to 207 lb-ft of torque turbo engine that reach 25-mpg in the city and 33-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a six-speed automatic with manual shift control is optional.

Before, most of the early MINI Cooper models were troubled  by transmission and cooling-system, but these were improve in later models. Several car magazine reviews and surveys, including Consumer Reports magazine, show reliability has improved to average.

If safety is your concern, that won’t be a problem at all. Considering their small size, MINI Cooper are unexpectedly safe. They even have Good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS). Performance is also not an issue for the surprising tiny body. It doesn’t drive tiny on the road thanks to its wonderful handling qualities. The 2010 MINI Cooper Convertible features a fully automatic soft-top roof with only 15 seconds to retract. There’s even a gauge called an “openometer” that records how long the top is down.

Overall, it is “the Cute” design, fun driving experience and modest fuel that made the MINI Cooper one of the most successful and continuing “retro” models.
